Woodland Beach

Woodland Beach is a popular, but often quiet, beach located in Tiny Township, Ontario, on the Georgian Bay shoreline. Known for its mix of sandy areas in the south and rockier terrain in the north, it features a boardwalk, shaded picnic area, and washrooms. The beach is a “hidden gem” that is often more relaxed than nearby Wasaga Beach, with a small parking lot and is noted for being a family-friendly spot.

Lyrics...

Amazing grace, how sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like meI once was lost, but now I’m foundWas blind, but now I see
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fearAnd grace, my fears relievedHow precious did that grace appearThe hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils and snaresWe have already come‘Twas grace that brought us safe thus farAnd grace will lead us home
When we’ve been there ten thousand yearsBright shining as the sunWe’ve no less days to sing God’s praiseThan when we first begunThan when we first begun

OUR HISTORY

In ‘normal’ tines, since 1929, Sunday services are offered from the May holiday weekend through to Thanksgiving and on Christmas Eve.

In the summer of 1920 the Aldridges, along with 18 members of the girls choir and a cook from Silverthorne Methodist Church in Toronto where Rev. Aldrige was pastor, camped in this area using two World-War-I army tents.

Rev. Aldridge initiated the present subdivision by approaching Jonathan Tripp, a farmer whose land ran to the water. They struck a deal for the land and Rev. Aldridge’s wife “Nellie” gave the name “Woodland Beach.”

THIS INAUGURATED THE ACTUAL PHYSICAL STARTING OF WOODLAND BEACH AS A TOURIST SUBDIVISION.

The following summer the first 3 cottages in Woodland were constructed, Rev. Aldridge s, Rev. Bryce’s. and the Carters’. Historical records indicate that in subsequent years services were held in local homes as the community expanded.

The church congregation was officially formed in 1926 but the church building wasn’t completed and first used until July 1929.
